Duncan Murphy provides senior leadership over complex ICT functions including ICT work program transformation, information (cyber) security, and governance of ICT investment for executive management in airport and airline companies to achieve appropriate levels of return on investment whilst maintaining continuous improvement of operations.
His role is to ensure the organisation sources and procures their most appropriate ICT solutions which save money, increase efficiencies and productivity and maximise competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Duncan is best known for educating key decision makers on appropriate IT products to solve complex problems, while directing a large portfolio of ICT projects and mentoring staff to ensure high morale and full engagement.
With a Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Administration degrees as well as a number of certifications that have supported his senior ICT leadership experience, Duncan has 30 years’ experience with systems responsible for moving people and goods in the road, rail and air transportation industries, which have transformed in size and complexity due to the increasing use of smart technologies.
With a consultative style, Duncan is systematic and efficient, providing clarity through structure and strategy. He is able to see risk before it becomes a problem, and decisions are informed and considered.
Intuitive and instructive when mentoring and fostering staff development, Duncan sees others’ strengths, and gives a long lead, creating room to grow.
Staying current through conferences, training, forums, reading, and knowing vendors’ and suppliers’ development roadmaps, Duncan is a logical, practical, task-focussed and decisive leader.
If Duncan were to publish his most valuable expertise, his book would be titled ‘How to source the best ICT solutions in the airline industry to resolve current and future business problems.’
